The long wait is finally over. EXO’s fans rejoice at the official announcement of Kai’s First Self-Titled Solo Mini Album and it is already the Most Anticipated Solo of the Year with overflowing positive responses and various fan theories.
Since the official announcement, various fan theories popped up one after the other about the album concept, music and the genres. The hype also multiplied when KAI himself gave away that each song is of a different genre and has never been done before.
Along with the hype, many speculations tagged along about different concepts and ideas for the Mini Album. Some of the best fan theories are:
- EXO AND THEIR PHASES OF THE MOON-RELATED RELEASE DATES
Recently, Kai posted a picture of him pointing at the moon on his LYSN Bubble. Right after the official announcement of his solo release date, which will be on November 30, fans noticed that there’s a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse that will occur on the same day. EXO is known for their astronomical-related concept and never fails to have release dates that have coincidence with the Phases of the Moon. Everything just adds up with the concept and his superpowers.
2. 11:11 PARALLEL UNIVERSE
Another mind-blowing theory from a fan reads that, on November 11, 2019, EXO released Kai teasers for their 6th Full Album, Obsession. This year on the same date, for his solo album teaser, November 11, 2020, which can be read as 11.11 also means a parallel universe. By connecting the dots with Kai’s superpower concept, Teleportation, fans suspect that Kai might be travelling and teleporting through parallel universes as the concept for his solo mini-album.
3. KAI = OPEN, START, VICTORY
In the teaser, the Album Name — “K开I” — has a Chinese character, 开, which translates to ‘start’ in English. As we all know Kai’s name in Chinese also means ‘to open’, which was the reason why Kai was the first introduced member during EXO’s debut and now it also resembles a new start for him as a Soloist. Furthermore, the character also can translate to “victory”.
4. GATE OF ELEVEN HEAVEN
This thrilling theory by a fan states that there is a movie entitled “11:11”, which is about a creature that enters our world on the 11th day of the 11th month from the gate of Eleven Heaven and causes evil things to happen. EXO Kai’s first teaser was released on the 11th day of the 11 month which again mapped back to the EXO’s debut concept and Obsession’s concept about the fight between EXO and x-EXO.
